Measure · Consent and GDPR
Consent and privacy without destroying your measurement
I set up consent for your WooCommerce store so every tag respects the visitor's choice and the data reaching GA4 and your ad platforms stays useful.
In short
Consent management is the set of configurations that decides which cookies and tags can run in an online store, according to each visitor's choice. I implement the CMP, Google Consent Mode v2 and the firing rules in Google Tag Manager on WooCommerce stores. It is a service for stores that want to measure and advertise with reliable data, in line with GDPR.
What it includes
- Google Consent Mode v2
- CMP Setup
- Consent-Based Event Conditioning
- Privacy & Tracking Audits
- Performance-Safe Consent
Signs your store's consent setup needs attention
-
Tags that fire before the choice
GA4, the Meta pixel or other scripts load before the visitor accepts or declines, which defeats the purpose of the consent notice.
-
Unexplained drops in data
After installing a cookie banner, conversions in GA4 or Google Ads dropped and nobody can separate the effect of refusals from the effect of configuration errors.
-
Inherited setup with no documentation
Plugins, theme scripts and GTM containers have piled up over time, and it is no longer clear what collects data, for whom and on what basis.
How I approach consent
I treat consent as part of the measurement architecture, not just a visual notice. First I inventory what the store loads, then I define categories, signals and firing rules, and finally I test every accept and decline scenario.
- Inventory of cookies, tags and scripts before any change
- Consent Mode v2 connected to the CMP and Google Tag Manager
- Documented tests for accepting, declining and changing preferences

You can hire each area separately or combine them in a single project, depending on your store's starting point and what is already installed.

How a project runs
-
1
Diagnosis
I analyse what the store loads before and after the visitor's choice, the current CMP, the GTM container and the plugins that set cookies.
-
2
Design
I define consent categories, the Consent Mode default state, firing rules per tag and what changes for each market.
-
3
Implementation
I set up the CMP, Consent Mode v2 and the GTM conditions, working with whoever manages the theme and hosting of the store.
-
4
Validation and handover
I test every scenario, document the setup and hand over a guide to keep consent correct when new tools are added.
Are your consent setup and tracking at risk?
The free simulator checks cookie consent, pixels and data reliability, and gives you a PDF diagnostic.
Does this service make my store GDPR compliant?
I help set up the technical side of consent in line with good practice and with the known GDPR guidance. The final legal assessment, including legal texts and lawful bases, should be made by a lawyer or the data protection officer. I work well alongside that advice.
Will I lose data if I implement consent properly?
Visitors who decline are no longer measured in the same way, so some loss of observation is expected. With Consent Mode v2 in advanced mode, Google can model part of the conversions, within the conditions it defines. The goal is for the data that remains to be correct and for you to know exactly what changed.
Which CMP do you recommend for WooCommerce?
It depends on traffic, the markets you sell in, budget and how the store is built. I often work with CookieYes and Usercentrics, but the recommendation only comes after the diagnosis. What matters is that the CMP supports Consent Mode v2 and integrates well with Google Tag Manager.
Do you work with my developer or agency?
Yes. I can configure GTM and the CMP and hand over specifications for theme or server changes that your developer will handle. Who does what is agreed upfront, to avoid duplicated work.
Want to know what your store collects before consent?
Book a diagnostic call. I review the current state of consent and measurement and give you priorities ordered by risk and impact.
