An SEO audit built for WooCommerce stores, not blogs

I review your store with typical WooCommerce issues in mind and hand over a prioritised backlog your developer can actually work through.

In short

An eCommerce SEO audit is a technical review of how search engines crawl, index and interpret an online shop's pages. I check indexing, canonicals, product variations, filters and parameters, speed, structured data, internal linking and out-of-stock handling on WooCommerce stores. It is for shops that want to know, based on data, what to fix first. The audit is normally delivered within 72 hours.

Why generic audits fall short

  • Hundreds of warnings, no priorities

Automated reports list everything with equal weight, and nobody knows where to start or what can safely be ignored.

  • WooCommerce-specific issues missed

Attribute archives, product tags, add-to-cart parameters and indexable variations slip through unnoticed.

  • Recommendations nobody can apply

The report says what is wrong but not where to change it in the theme, which plugin or which WordPress setting.

How I run the audit

I combine a full crawl of the store with indexing and performance data from Google Search Console. Each issue is weighed by its business impact, not just its technical severity, and comes with how to fix it in WooCommerce.

  • A full crawl, including filters, pagination and variations
  • Cross-checked against Search Console indexing and performance reports
  • Manual review of the category and product pages with most potential
  • Recommendations tied to specific files, plugins and settings

What you get

  • Audit report

A document covering the issues found, the evidence, the qualitative impact and how to fix each one.

  • Prioritised backlog

A spreadsheet with each task, priority, estimated effort and suggested owner, ready to import into your project tool.

  • Indexing review

Pages that should be indexed but are not, and pages that are indexed but should not be.

  • Structured data check

The state of your product, breadcrumb and organisation markup, with errors and warnings to fix.

  • Walkthrough session

A call to go through the priorities with you and your developer.

Audit phases

  1. Access

I get access to Google Search Console, GA4 and ideally the WordPress dashboard.

  2. Crawl and collection

I crawl the store, export Search Console data and manually review the main page templates.

  3. Analysis and prioritisation

I group issues by root cause, assess impact and effort, and build the backlog.

  4. Delivery

I hand over the report and backlog, normally within 72 hours of receiving access, and present the findings on a call.

Tools I use

  • Google Search Console
  • Screaming Frog SEO Spider
  • PageSpeed Insights
  • Rich Results Test
  • Ahrefs
  • Rank Math
  • SEOPress
  • Yoast
How long does an audit take?

I normally deliver the audit within 72 hours of receiving access. For stores with very large catalogues or several languages it can take longer, and in that case I give a timeline in the proposal once I have seen the store.

Does the audit include implementation?

The audit delivers the diagnosis and the plan. Implementation can be done by me, your developer or both, and is quoted separately. Many stores handle the simpler tasks in-house and leave the more technical ones to me.

What access do I need to give?

The essential one is Google Search Console. Access to GA4 and the WordPress dashboard makes the analysis more complete, especially for tracing which plugins and settings cause each issue. I do not need server access for the core audit.
