A digital roadmap that says what to do, in what order and why

I turn your store's list of ideas, problems and requests into a realistic phased plan, with justified priorities and clear owners.

In short

A digital roadmap is a phased plan setting out which technology and process initiatives a business will carry out, in what order and to what end. I build roadmaps for WooCommerce stores from a diagnosis of how they operate, prioritising each initiative by impact, effort and dependencies and tying it to the retain, measure and grow pillars. It is for stores with plenty of ideas and little clarity on where to begin.

When there is no roadmap

  • Everything is a priority

A new theme, a new email platform, an ERP integration and new campaigns all compete for the same budget and the same people.

  • Decisions driven by urgency

Whatever made the most noise that week moves forward, rather than what has the most impact on the business.

  • Dependencies discovered too late

A project stalls halfway because it relied on something nobody had planned for, such as clean data or an integration.

How I build the roadmap

I start by listening to whoever runs the store and whoever does the operational work, and by reviewing tools, data and processes. Every initiative is assessed against the same criteria and slotted into a sequence that respects dependencies and the team's real capacity.

  • Short interviews with the key people in the operation
  • Explicit prioritisation criteria: impact, effort, risk and dependencies
  • Phases with goals and indicators, not just task lists
  • Regular reviews built in from the start

What you get

  • Current-state diagnosis

A summary of processes, tools, data and the main points of friction in the operation.

  • Assessed initiative list

Every initiative considered, with its impact, effort, risk and dependencies.

  • Phased roadmap

A plan in phases, usually quarterly, with goals, initiatives, owners and indicators.

  • Investment estimates

Order-of-magnitude tool and labour costs per phase.

  • Presentation session

The roadmap presented to decision-makers, with room to adjust priorities before it is finalised.

How the work runs

  1. Interviews and collection

I speak to the key people, review tools and data, and gather the ideas and problems already identified.

  2. Diagnosis

I organise what I have gathered, find common causes and turn problems into concrete initiatives.

  3. Prioritisation

I assess each initiative against the same criteria and validate the priorities with you.

  4. Roadmap and review

I deliver the phased roadmap and set a review point to adjust it to reality.

What time frame does the roadmap cover?

Usually six to twelve months, split into shorter phases. The first phase is planned in detail and later ones more broadly, because priorities shift as you learn. I adjust the horizon to the size and pace of your store.

Does the roadmap include implementation?

The roadmap sets out the plan. Implementation can be done by me, your team or other suppliers, and is quoted separately. Many stores use the roadmap to coordinate several partners.

What if priorities change halfway through?

That is normal and planned for. The roadmap includes review points to assess what has been done and adjust the next phases. A roadmap that never changes is usually one nobody uses.
