Technical SEO for WooCommerce stores that want to grow in search

I fix the technical issues that stop search engines and AI answer engines from finding, understanding and showing the products in your store.

In short

Technical eCommerce SEO is the work that allows search engines to crawl, index and understand an online shop's product and category pages. I run audits, optimise crawl budget across faceted navigation and pagination, improve product and category pages, and prepare the store to be cited by AI answer engines. It is for WooCommerce stores whose catalogue has grown faster than their technical foundations.

What is included

  1. eCommerce SEO Audits
  2. Crawl Budget Optimisation
  3. Product & Category Page Optimisation
  4. Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO)

Common technical issues in WooCommerce stores

  • Filters that multiply URLs

Filters, sort orders and parameters create thousands of versions of the same category, and search engines spend their time there instead of on products.

  • Important pages missing from the index

Key categories and products do not show up in Google because of wrong canonicals, forgotten noindex tags or weak internal linking.

  • Content AI struggles to read

Product pages with manufacturer copy, no structured data and no direct answers, which AI answer engines find hard to cite.

How I approach technical SEO

I start with Google Search Console data and a full crawl of the store, to separate real problems from warnings that do not matter. Recommendations come prioritised by impact and effort, written so your developer can act on them.

  • Diagnosis based on Search Console data, crawls and, where possible, server logs
  • Priorities by impact and effort, not endless lists of warnings
  • Recommendations specific to WooCommerce and your theme

Technical SEO services

You can start with an audit and then move on to the areas it flags as priorities, or book a specific service on its own.

How a project runs

  1. Access and crawl

I get access to Search Console and WordPress and run a full crawl of the store, including filters and pagination.

  2. Diagnosis

I cross-check crawl data with indexing and performance in Search Console to find what is holding the store back.

  3. Prioritised plan

I deliver a backlog with each recommendation, its expected impact in qualitative terms, the effort and who should carry it out.

  4. Implementation and follow-up

I implement or oversee the changes and check over the following weeks whether Google reflects them.

What is the difference between technical SEO and content SEO?

Technical SEO covers how search engines access, crawl and understand the site: structure, indexing, speed and structured data. Content SEO covers what the pages say and which searches they answer. In an online shop the two overlap, especially on product and category pages.

How long before I see results?

It depends on the size of the store, how often Google crawls it and the type of fix. Some changes show up within a few weeks, others take longer. I do not promise timelines or rankings, but I agree with you which indicators to track.

What is GEO and why does it matter for an online shop?

GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation) is the work of making your store's content easy for AI answer engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI Overviews to understand and cite. It relies on structured data, clear entities and content that answers questions directly. It complements traditional SEO rather than replacing it.

Do you only work with WooCommerce?

WooCommerce is my specialism, and I know the typical issues with its themes, plugins and URL structure. I can review other platforms, but my implementation guidance is most detailed for WooCommerce.
