FAQ
Frequently asked questions
These are the questions that come up most often before a project. If you can't find the answer you're looking for, send me a message.
In short
This page answers the most common questions about my consulting services for WooCommerce stores: what I do, how proposals work, how I handle data and the GDPR, and which tools I use. The answers are direct and, where there is no single answer, I explain what it depends on.
Services
What exactly does a WooCommerce growth consultant do?
I help online shops increase profit and customer value. In practice, I set up tracking and consent, build email and SMS automation, run or review paid media campaigns and set growth priorities based on data.
Do you implement, or only advise?
Both. I can implement directly or work with your team and developers, providing written specifications and reviewing their work.
Do you work with stores that are just starting out?
My work pays off most for stores with regular sales, because there is data and a customer base to work with. For newer stores, I can set up a solid foundation of tracking, consent and email so you start on the right footing.
Do you build WooCommerce websites or themes?
No. I focus on growth: retention, measurement and paid media. When development is needed, I work with your developer or recommend partners.
Do you work with stores outside Portugal?
Yes. I work in English and Portuguese and run projects remotely.
Pricing and proposals
How much do your services cost?
It depends on scope, the store's complexity and the length of the engagement. After a discovery call I send a proposal with a fixed fee.
What does a proposal look like?
A short document setting out goals, scope, deliverables, timeline, each party's responsibilities and the fee. I never start work without a proposal approved in writing.
Are there minimum contract terms?
Projects have a defined scope and timeline. Monthly retainers have cancellation terms set out in the proposal.
Is there a charge for the discovery call?
It is there to understand your store and decide whether to proceed, with no obligation.
Data and the GDPR
What access do you need to my store?
Only what each task requires and, wherever possible, read-only. Access is granted in my own name and can be removed when the project ends.
Will you sign a data processing agreement?
Yes. Whenever I process personal data on the store's behalf, I sign a data processing agreement covering purposes, security measures and retention.
Does your consent set-up make my store GDPR compliant?
I configure the technical side in line with good practice and platform requirements such as Consent Mode v2. Full legal compliance should be confirmed by a lawyer, particularly for policies and legal wording.
Can I email customers who bought but didn't subscribe to the newsletter?
It depends on the legal basis and the type of message. Transactional emails are different from marketing, and the position for existing customers should be checked case by case. I help separate the two and capture consent clearly.
Tools and platforms
Which tools do you use?
Mainly GA4, Google Tag Manager, email and SMS platforms such as Klaviyo, consent platforms that support Consent Mode v2, Google Ads and Meta Ads. The choice always depends on the store.
Do I have to switch email platform?
Not necessarily. Your current platform often does the job, as long as it is properly integrated with the store. I only recommend switching when there is a specific limitation that justifies the effort.
Do you earn commission on the tools you recommend?
Some links on this site may be affiliate links, as flagged on the affiliate disclosure page. That doesn't change the recommendations I make to clients.
Do you work with Shopify, PrestaShop or Magento?
Yes, mainly on tracking, consent, email and paid media. WooCommerce remains my speciality, where I can go deepest on the technical side.
