Bounce rate is the percentage of visits in which the user leaves a site without meaningful interaction. In GA4, it is the inverse of the engagement rate: a session is a bounce when it lasts less than 10 seconds, has no conversion event and views only one page.
A high bounce rate is not always bad. A blog post that answers a question quickly can bounce and still do its job. It is a signal to investigate, not a verdict.
