Cart abandonment rate is the percentage of shopping carts created that do not end in a purchase. It is calculated as 1 minus (completed orders divided by carts created), expressed as a percentage. Industry averages are often close to 70 per cent.
Common causes are unexpected shipping costs, forced account creation, slow checkout and lack of payment options.
